Switzerland To Share Tax Info With India

The Swiss Government has told India that it will cooperate with plans for the exchange of tax information.

Swiss Finance Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf met with her Indian counterpart Arun Jaitley on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Jaitley later told the press that good progress had been made in the talks. Widner-Schlumpf added that Switzerland is planning to go ahead with the automatic exchange of information.

According to Jaitley, Indian tax officials are completing assessments and collecting evidence on funds allegedly held in Swiss bank accounts. He said that the Indian authorities have independent evidence and material available and have provided Switzerland with this data as part of the negotiation process.
