Выплаты юристам, добившимся в суде оправдания гражданам кантона, за четыре года удвоились.

В случае оправдания правосудием гражданин кантона может в определенных случаях потребовать от органов государственной власти финансового возмещения из-за "неправомерного вовлечения его в юридический процесс". Эти деньги, прежде всего, должны позволить компенсировать затраты на защиту.

Таким образом в 2015 году кантон выплатил местным адвокатам, которые добились оправдания своих клиентов, 2 миллиона франков. Эта сумма вдвое превышает затраты в 2011 году, когда возможности потребовать возмещение ущерба еще не были расширены. Департамент безопасности и экономики кантона Женева представил проект закона, ограничивающий такие затраты на такие выплаты.

В настоящее время на практике защитник в суде получает за свою работу от 400 до 450 франков в час, а власти Женевы, ссылаясь на практику других кантонов, хотят снизить эти выплаты до 300 франков.
