Finance Ministers from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg met to discuss international tax developments on August 25.
According to the Swiss Federal Department of Finance, the ministers considered the current status of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's project on base erosion and profit shifting. They also discussed the implementation of the new global standard for the automatic exchange of tax information.
Federal Councillor and Head of the FDF, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, emphasized that Switzerland is actively participating in efforts to establish new international standards on a range of tax issues. She said it is important that these standards are complied with by all, to ensure that a level playing field exists.
